L&GNSW will focus on ensuring compliance with key harm minimisation requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Australia.- The New South Wales regulator, Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW<\/strong>) has announced that it will undertake a compliance campaign to check racecourses and on-course wagering providers are complying with the Betting and Racing Act 1998 and the Totalizator Act 1997 (the Acts). Checks will be conducted throughout November and December<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regulator will check controls related to minors accessing wagering products, restrictions on the provision of inducements to gamble and provision of mandatory harm compliance signage and brochures. It warned that failure to comply with requirements carries a maximum penalty<\/strong> of AU$11,000 for an individual and AU$110,000 for a corporation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Racecourse operators and on-course bookmakers should refer to the Racing and Wagering Self-Audit Checklist to ensure they remain compliant, it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, the regulator released the results of a campaign of\u00a0compliance checks\u00a0on online wagering providers<\/a>. The campaign focused on responsible gambling training requirements under the\u00a0National Consumer Protection Framework (NCPF)<\/strong>, administered under the Betting and Racing Act 1998.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The review identified recurring themes of non-compliance<\/strong> among online operators, including initial training not completed within the required timeframe; refresher training not completed annually; training of existing staff not completed by 30 March 2023, and training records being unavailable, not accurate or not up to date.
