Thailand.- Thai authorities have arrested 18 sports commentators and online streamers accused of running illegal football broadcasts and promoting gambling websites in a coordinated police operation in six provinces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The raids, led by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and its Social Listening and Monitoring Centre, targeted locations in Bangkok, Roi Et, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and Samut Prakan. Investigators say unlicensed platforms streamed live football matches with real-time commentary and gambling advertisements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said the illegal operations were funded by foreign investors who hired Thai influencers to attract viewers and drive betting traffic. Each major match reportedly drew over one million viewers, generating an estimated THB 200 million (US$6.1m) in monthly revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the raids, officers seized electronic equipment valued at more than THB 1m (US$30,000), including computers, phones, and recording devices. The suspects reportedly earned between THB 1,000 (US$30) and THB 2,000 (US$60) per match, plus bonuses for every new gambler referred through their streams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All 18 individuals have been charged under Section 12 of Thailand\u2019s Gambling Act for promoting or persuading others to gamble online. The detainees were transferred to the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD).<\/p>\n\n\n
