Macau.- The Public Security Police Force (CPSP)<\/strong> has reported that Macau received more than one million visitor arrivals<\/strong> from October 1 to 7, the first seven days of this year’s eight-day October Golden Week<\/strong>, which ends today. According to preliminary data cited by Macau Business, the average daily number<\/strong> of visitors stood at around 151,000 visitors, slightly above the forecast of 150,000.\u00a0Police had forecast a total of 1.2 million visitors over the whole eight days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the first day of Golden Week, Macau recorded over 673,000 border crossings and 139,000 visitors, increasing to 164,000 the following day and a peak of 191,176 on Saturday (October 4)<\/strong> before declining to 113,051 on Sunday as travel to and from Macau was impacted by Typhoon Matmo<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number surpasses 2024\u2019s daily average of around 140,000 visitor arrivals due to various factors, including the longer holiday period<\/a> this year, as National Day coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival, creating an eight-day break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first eight months of 2025<\/strong>, 26,895,940 visitor arrivals were recorded, up by 15 per cent year-on-year; same-day visitors (15,716,961) and overnight visitors (11,178,979) grew by 25.5 per cent and 2.9 per cent respectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

JP Morgan <\/strong>reported that casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) in Macau was MOP5.5bn (US$686.1m)<\/a> <\/strong>in the first five days of October That\u2019s a daily average of MOP1.1bn (US$138m). Analysts DS Kim, Selina Li and Lindsey Qian<\/strong> said in a memo that it was the \u201cbest Golden Week print in five-plus years.\u201d Their full-month forecast remains unchanged for now at between 11 and 13 per cent growth year-over-year to a six-year high of MOP$23bn (US$2.87bn).<\/p>\n\n\n
