Macau.- The Public Security Police Force (CPSP)<\/strong> has reported that Macau received more than 790,000 visitor arrivals during the first five days of the October Golden Week, which runs from October 1 to 8. The police expect 1.2 million visitors<\/a> during the 8-day holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to preliminary data cited by Macau Business, the average daily <\/strong>number of visitors stood at around 158,000, in line with the tourism authorities\u2019 forecast of 150,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the first day of Golden Week, Macau recorded over 673,000 border crossings and 139,000 visitors, increasing to approximately 164,000 the following day and 191,176 on Saturday (October 4) before declining to 113,051 on Sunday as travel to and from Macau was impacted by Typhoon Matmo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The majority of tourists in the first five days entered Macau via the Border Gate checkpoint (364,054 arrivals), the Hengqin checkpoint (150,634 arrivals), or the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (124,920 arrivals).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forecast surpasses 2024\u2019s daily average of around 140,000 visitor arrivals due to various factors, including the longer holiday period<\/a> this year, as National Day coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival, creating an eight-day break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes<\/strong>, the director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), anticipated the hotel occupancy rate in Macau during the holiday season would exceed 90 per cent<\/strong>. The city currently has about 47,000 hotel rooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first eight months of 2025<\/strong>, 26,895,940 visitor arrivals were recorded, up by 15 per cent year-on-year; same-day visitors (15,716,961) and overnight visitors (11,178,979) grew by 25.5 per cent and 2.9 per cent respectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
