Australia.- The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA<\/strong>) has issued a series of warning letters for \u201cserious breaches\u201d of Australian gambling law. The warnings were directed to Stellar Ltd, operator of Spinit; Just Entertainment B.V., operator of Lucky Ones7; Digibrite S.R.L., operator of The Pokies; and Hollycorn N.V., operator of Slot Lounge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the regulator, the four platforms offered gambling services to Australians without the required licences under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001<\/strong>. ACMA warned that failure to comply with Australian legislation may result in further enforcement action, including requesting that internet service providers block access to the offending websites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ACMA says that since it made its first blocking request in November 2019, 1,322\u00a0illegal gambling and affiliate websites<\/strong> have been blocked. In September, ACMA issued a request to block\u00a0five<\/a> gambling websites. It also ordered\u00a0Betfair\u00a0to pay a\u00a0AU$871,660 (US$567,082)<\/a>\u00a0penalty after breaching spam laws in commercial messages sent to VIP customers.
