That\u2019s an increase of 6 per cent in year-on-year terms, but 17.5 per cent behind August, when GGR reached MOP22.16bn (US$2.77bn), the <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-reaches-highest-monthly-total-since-the-pandemic-in-august\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">highest monthly total<\/a> of 2025 so far.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Casino operations in September were <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-casinos-resume-operations-after-33-hours-of-closure-due-to-super-typhoon-ragasa\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-casinos-resume-operations-after-33-hours-of-closure-due-to-super-typhoon-ragasa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">disrupted by Super Typhoon Ragasa<\/a>, which led to a government-mandated closure of casinos for 33 hours. The GGR result was in line with Citigroup\u2019s downgraded forecast of MOP18.5bn (US$2.3bn).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cumulatively, Macau\u2019s GGR for the first <strong>nine months of 2025 was MOP181.3bn (US$22.5bn)<\/strong>, up 7.1 per cent year-on-year. The figure was 17.7 per cent below pre-pandemic levels (MOP220.2bn \/ US$27.4bn). Looking ahead, analysts have high expectations for&nbsp;this year\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-has-high-expectations-for-octobers-golden-week\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">October Golden Week<\/a>&nbsp;holiday period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In July,&nbsp;the<strong>&nbsp;Legislative Assembly<\/strong>&nbsp;passed the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-lawmakers-pass-budget-lowering-gaming-tax-revenue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2025 fiscal budget<\/a>&nbsp;amendment bill, which forecasts annual gaming tax revenue of&nbsp;<strong>MOP79.8bn (US$9.87bn)<\/strong>, 5 per cent lower than previously expected. The government cut its GGR estimate from MOP240bn ($29.69bn) to MOP228bn ($28.2bn).
