Macau.- The Public Security Police Force (CPSP)<\/strong> has reported that Macau expects to receive 1.2 million visitors during this year\u2019s October Golden Week Holiday, from October 1 to 8. The forecast coincides with that of the Macao Government Tourism Office<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to local media, PSP spokesman Lam Keong<\/strong> said the peak travel period<\/strong> is expected to occur on October 3 and 4. He projected roughly 150,000 travellers per day. Cross-border footfall is estimated at between 5.6 million and 6 million trips<\/strong>, with a daily average of 700,000 to 750,000 trips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said coordination with Zhuhai and Hong Kong will be strengthened to manage pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Crowd control measures<\/strong> will be implemented at busy tourist areas and moon-viewing locations if necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forecast surpasses 2024\u2019s daily average of around 140,000 visitor arrivals due to various factors, including the longer holiday period<\/a> this year, as National Day coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival, creating an eight-day break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this week, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes<\/strong>, the director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), anticipated the hotel occupancy rate in Macau during the holiday season would exceed 90 per cent<\/strong>. The city currently has about 47,000 hotel rooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first eight months of 2025<\/strong>, 26,895,940 visitor arrivals were recorded, up by 15 per cent year-on-year; same-day visitors (15,716,961) and overnight visitors (11,178,979) grew by 25.5 per cent and 2.9 per cent respectively.
