Macau.- Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes<\/strong>, the director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), expects to see a daily influx of 150.000 visitors during this year\u2019s October Golden Week<\/a> holiday period from October 1-7.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to the local media, MGTO\u2019s head said Macau is likely to receive 1.2 million visitors<\/strong> during the Chinese-mainland holiday. This would surpass last year\u2019s daily average of 140,000 arrivals. The forecast is based on various factors, including the longer holiday period this year, as National Day coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival, creating an eight-day break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fernandes anticipated that the hotel occupancy rate in Macau during the holiday season would exceed 90 per cent. The city currently has about 47,000 hotel rooms. Fernandes said that while room rates rise during peak demand, price increases remain \u201crational.\u201d \u201cWe are quite optimistic and expect ideal occupancy rates during the National Day Golden Week,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, the Statistics and Census Service of Macau (DSEC)<\/strong> reported that the number of visitor arrivals to Macau set a new monthly record of 4,219,034 in August 2025<\/a>, up 15.5 per cent year-on-year. In the first eight months of 2025<\/strong>, 26,895,940 visitor arrivals were recorded, up by 15 per cent year-on-year; same-day visitors (15,716,961) and overnight visitors (11,178,979) grew by 25.5 per cent and 2.9 per cent respectively.
