The Philippines.- Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan First District assistant engineer Brice Hernandez<\/strong> (DPWH) has admitted before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee<\/strong> that he entered casinos with false identity provided by casino staff. He said personnel issued documents to him and other government engineers to evade the ban on public officials gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hernandez said: \u201cThey wanted us to play, so they made the way for us to get IDs. We had no control over it.\u201d Senator Raffy Tulfo presented the ID during the hearing, to which Hernandez confirmed its authenticity, according to The Manila Times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hernandez said that the group entered the casinos usually accompanied by his former superior, dismissed DPWH Bulacan district engineer Henry Alcantara. The Philippine News Agency reported that Hernandez said that he once won up to PHP30m in a single night of gambling. Senators showed reports of nearly PHP600m in suspicious bank transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n
