India.- Police have led an operation against alleged illegal gambling in Andhra Pradesh\u2019s Sri Sathya Sai District with raids in Madakasira, Chilamathur, and Battalapalli. They arrested 14 suspects and confiscated RS 21,610 (US$2.500) in cash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local media outlet The Hans India reported that operations were carried out under the orders of district superintendent of police (SP) S Satish Kumar, IPS. In Madakasira mandal, police apprehended five people and seized RS3,200 in cash n Hare Samudram village. In Battalapalli, near Upparapalli in the Chitravathi river belt, six gamblers were allegedly caught with RS8,260, while in Chilamathur, three people were arrested near Veerapuram Cross. Police seized RS10,150.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SP said that \u201cstrict action will continue against those engaging in illegal gambling activities, as such practices disrupt public order and exploit vulnerable sections of society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n
