The decision, passed unanimously by the city council, aims to reduce harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe city recognises that gambling-related harm extends beyond individuals to affect families and the broader community,\u201d authorities said \u201cTo help reduce harm and address associated social issues, the city prohibits any wagering activities on city-owned or managed property, for any purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The policy was prompted by a tenant\u2019s request to open a betting outlet in a community venue.
