Macau.- Melco Resorts & Entertainment<\/strong> has announced that Grand Dragon Casino<\/a> in Macau will cease operations on Monday (September 22), earlier than the government\u2019s deadline for the closure of satellite casinos in Macau. According to a release, all gaming tables will be reallocated to City of Dreams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company also announced that the slot machine parlour Mocha Kuong Fat<\/strong> will close on September 24. The electronic gaming machines will be reallocated to Altira, City of Dreams and Studio City. The moves follow a review of Melco Resorts\u2019 \u201coverall strategic development,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, the company said jobs would be safeguarded, with workers reassigned to other properties within its Macau portfolio. The regulator, the DICJ, said it would continue to maintain close communication with the Labour Affairs Bureau to ensure compliance with Melco\u2019s commitments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Macau government had said it would ensure gaming concessionaires allocate\u00a0positions for local workers<\/a>\u00a0impacted by the\u00a0closure pf satellite casinos<\/a>. Of the 5,600 local employees affected, 4,800 are directly employed by gaming concessionaires. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June, the government of Macau confirmed that it had received notifications from SJM Resorts, Melco Resorts and Galaxy Entertainment Group that 11 satellite casinos would close by the end of the year<\/a>. In July, SJM Resorts announced the end of operations of Casino Grandview<\/a>.
