The government collected US$7.71bn from casino operations in the first eight months of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- The Financial Services Bureau has reported that Macau collected MOP61.9bn (US$7.71bn) in casino taxes in the first eight months of the year. The figure was up 5.3 per cent year-on-year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For August, gaming tax revenue reached MOP8.31bn (US$1.04bn), 2.5 per cent higher than the MOP$8.31bn (US$1bn) collected in July. The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) reported that Macau\u2019s gross gaming revenue (GGR) was\u00a0MOP22.16bn (US$2.76bn)\u00a0in August<\/a>, an increase of 12.2 per cent in year-on-year terms and the best monthly performance since January 2020 before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the 10-year concessions that came into effect on January 1, 2023, casinos pay 40 per cent on GGR. The government\u2019s original 2025 budget plan forecast full-year gaming tax revenue of MOP93.12bn (US$11.52bn). This was revised down in the\u00a02025 fiscal budget amendment bill<\/a>\u00a0to MOP79.8bn (US$9.87bn), reflecting a revision of the gaming revenue forecast from MOP240bn ($29.69bn) to MOP228bn ($28.2bn).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cumulatively, Macau\u2019s GGR for the first eight months of 2025 was MOP163.05bn (US$19.11bn), up 7.2 per cent year-on-year. The figure was 11.7 per cent below pre-pandemic levels (MOP198.22bn \/ US$24.75bn).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
