Australia.-\u00a0Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW)<\/strong>\u00a0has shared the results of a study commissioned by Greyhounds Australasia (GA) that reveals that the Australian greyhound racing industry generated nearly AU$2.45bn (US1.62bn) in value-added contribution to the Australian economy in the financial year 2022-2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The report, conducted by market research company IER and supported by Responsible Wagering Australia (RWA), shows that the industry generated AU$731.4m in tax for federal, state, and local governments<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In New South Wales<\/strong>, the sector generated AU$234.7m in taxes with a net contribution of AU$221.3m; Victoria <\/strong>generated AU$216.3m and a net contribution of AU$198.3m, Queensland AU$136.4m and a net tax contribution of AU$97.9m; Western Australia <\/strong>AU$62.8m and AU$53.2m; South Australia <\/strong>AU$44.5m, and AU$43.8m; Tasmania<\/strong> AU$15.8m and AU$10.4m; Northern Territory<\/strong> AU$14.6m and Australian Capital Territory <\/strong>AU$6.2m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Simon Stout<\/strong>, CEO of Greyhounds Australasia, said: “The study demonstrates the substantial financial benefit the greyhound racing industry provides to communities and governments across Australia. The tax revenue generated supports a wide range of public services and infrastructure, underscoring the industry’s vital role in the national economy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
