Developed by Sri Lankan conglomerate John Keells Holdings (JKH) with global casino giant Melco Resorts &amp; Entertainment, the US$1.2bn project is intended as a premier destination for high-end tourism, gaming, and international events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spanning over 4 million square feet, the venue has a 180,000-square-foot Melco-operated casino and two luxury hotels: the 687-room Cinnamon Life and the 113-room Nuwa, part of Melco\u2019s brand. There&#8217;s a luxury shopping promenade, 17 high-end dining venues, event and exhibition spaces and residential and office components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The opening was attended by Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan and Sri Lankan president Anura Kumara Dissanayake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/08\/cod-1-900x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-777029848\" srcset=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/08\/cod-1-900x600.jpeg 900w, https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/08\/cod-1-600x400.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/08\/cod-1-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/08\/cod-1.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is not just a luxury resort, it\u2019s a statement of intent,\u201d said Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco Resorts. \u201cSri Lanka has the potential to become to India what Macau is to China. The proximity, the cultural ties, and the emerging affluence of India\u2019s middle and upper classes make Colombo a natural hub for high-value regional tourism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>JKH chairperson Krishan Balendra said: \u201cThis is about putting Colombo on the global map for business, entertainment, and MICE tourism.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City of Dreams is expected to attract affluent tourists from India, China, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
