Macau has received nearly 23 million visitors so far this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has announced that provisional data shows 3.45 million visitor arrivals in July, with an average daily visitor count of around 110,000.\u00a0Cheng Wai Tong, deputy director of the MGTO, said arrivals for the first seven months of the year reached nearly 23 million, reflecting a growth rate of 14 per cent, which he described as \u201cideal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said occupancy rates for all hotel tiers reached an average of over 90 per cent in July, while occupancy for the first half of this year had been around 89 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wai Tong said that based on past trends, visitor numbers in August are expected to be \u201ceven better.\u201d Authorities remain optimistic about annual visitor growth, especially during the National Games period coming in November. At the beginning of the year, the MGTO projected that annual visitor arrivals for 2025 would reach between 38 and 39 million.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) reported that Macau\u2019s gross gaming revenue (GGR) for July was\u00a0MOP22.13bn (US$2.73bn)<\/a>. That\u2019s an increase of 19 per cent in year-on-year terms and a 5 per cent rise compared to\u00a0June\u2019s MOP21.06bn (US$2.60bn)<\/a>. It was the best monthly performance since January 2020, just before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cumulatively, Macau\u2019s GGR for the first seven months of 2025 was MOP140.8bn (US$17.4bn), up 6.46 per cent year-on-year. The figure was 19 per cent below pre-pandemic levels (MOP173.95bn \/ US$21.5bn).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
