Macau.- The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has said that the cap on casino junket operators in 2026 will remain at 50, the same as the present year<\/a>. As of May, Macau had just 29 licensed junkets<\/strong>, representing 58 per cent of the permitted maximum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau\u2019s gaming law, which includes a statute specifically for junkets, imposes a limit on the number of junkets each of the city\u2019s six casino operators can engage with. The limit varies for each operator and is determined by the city\u2019s Secretary for Economy and Finance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sands China<\/strong> and SJM Holdings<\/strong> hold the largest allocations, with 12 junkets each permitted at their respective casinos. MGM China Holdings <\/strong>and Melco Resorts & Entertainment <\/strong>are each authorised to work with eight junkets. Galaxy Entertainment Group<\/strong> and Wynn Macau<\/strong> have caps of five junket partners each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since January 2023, junkets have been barred from sharing in casino revenue and are limited to a 1.25 per cent commission on rolling turnover. Since August 2024<\/a>, they are also prohibited from issuing gambling credit, a function now reserved for casino concessionaires under the Legal Regime of Credit Concession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
