The Macau Government Tourism Office expects a daily average of 110,000 visitor arrivals for the summer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, head of the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), has expressed optimism for August as the hotel occupancy rate for the summer season stands at around 90 per cent. She expects a daily average of 110,000 visitor arrivals in July and August, almost a 2.2 per cent increase from 2024\u2019s average of 107,628.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MGTO chief told media that Macau\u2019s arrival rate in July had already hit an average of over 90,000 per day, exceeding the figures from June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MGTO has projected that annual visitor arrivals in 2025 would reach between 38 and 39 million. A\u00a0report from Macau\u2019s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC)<\/a>\u00a0showed that arrivals increased by 25.3 per cent year-on-year to 3,372,081 in May. From January to May, 16,327,537 visitor arrivals were recorded, up by 15.2 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, the Public Security Police Force (CPSP) reported that Macau surpassed the 20 million visitor mark<\/a> on July 8. That\u2019s 26 days earlier than in 2024, partly due to new visa policies from mainland China that allow for more flexible entry. The 20 million figure represents a daily average of 106,000 arrivals since the start of the year. Mainland Chinese tourists accounted for 71.6 per cent of arrivals, followed by visitors from Hong Kong at 19.1 per cent. Taiwan visitors represented 2.4 per cent and other international markets 6.9 per cent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
