Marcos Jr. is reportedly open to proposals for tighter regulations and taxation of digital gaming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department of Finance (DOF) is currently exploring measures to impose new <strong>taxes on online gaming platforms<\/strong>. One bill proposes a 10 per cent tax on operators to fund addiction treatment and recovery programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Palace press officer <strong>Claire Castro<\/strong> said: \u201cThe President is aware of the possible effects on gambling addicts and will not oppose proposals that are backed by sufficient study.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She added: \u201cThis proposal to impose a tax to restrict online gaming is for the good of the Filipino family. Senator <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/philippine-senator-calls-for-stricter-regulations-on-online-gambling\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/philippine-senator-calls-for-stricter-regulations-on-online-gambling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sherwin Gatchalian<\/a> has filed a separate bill proposing tighter restrictions without a full ban.
