Macau.- The government is conducting a 30-day public consultation<\/strong> on proposed amendments to the Advertising Activities Law, which has been in place for over 30 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a press conference, Yau Yun Wa<\/strong>, director of Economic and Technological Development, said the new legislation would “streamline approval procedures.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The consultation document states: \u201cTo prevent the social impact of advertisements on games of chance and to clarify content that should be explicitly prohibited, it is recommended to clearly define a ban on all forms of gambling advertisements<\/strong>,\u201d according to the Macau News Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The document proposes three possible definitions of \u201cgambling-related advertising,\u201d<\/strong> including information that displays gambling-related equipment, tools or scenes; gambling techniques or odds information; any information that may attract public attention or evoke an association with gambling activities; information promoting or encouraging others to participate in any form of gambling activities; and information promoting activities or behaviors that require participation in gambling activities as a prerequisite for obtaining benefits.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
