Macau received 100,000 international hotel guests, a 12.9 per cent year-on-year increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- The city recorded a 12.9 per cent year-on-year rise in international hotel guests in May, reaching 100,000 visitors. According to data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), the growth was driven by strong demand from South Korea, India, Japan and Thailand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Korea led the international source markets with 27,000 visitors, an increase of 19.2 per cent from last year. Japan saw the highest percentage growth at 37.8 per cent to 9,000 guests, while Indian arrivals rose by 2 per cent to 11,000. In contrast, the number of guests from Malaysia and Singapore fell by 3.6 and 2.3 per cent, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, Macau received 1.23 million hotel guests in May<\/a>, a 2.7 per cent annual increase. Visitors from mainland China totalled 902,000 guests, up 3.7 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a 3.7 per cent drop in the number of available hotel rooms to 45,000, the hotel occupancy rate climbed by 4.5 percentage points to 87.8 per cent. Five-star hotels had a 91.4 per cent occupancy rate, followed by three-star hotels at 84.2 percent and four-star properties at 80.7 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between January and May 2025, the average occupancy rate was 89.2 per cent, up five points year-on-year. Guest numbers dipped by 2.1 per cent to 6 million. The average length of stay remained steady at 1.7 nights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inbound package tour visitors totalled 855,000 in the first five months, up 0.7 per cent year-on-year. While international group visitors rose 12.4 per cent to 99,000, mainland Chinese package tour arrivals declined by 2.2 per cent to 732,000.<\/p>\n\n\n
