Thailand.- The Thai government intends to move ahead with its plan to legalise casinos in integrated entertainment complexes despite mounting opposition from within the country\u2019s political ranks<\/a>. Deputy finance minister Julapun Amornvivat has confirmed that the draft legislation will get its first reading in the House of Representatives next month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He acknowledged criticism, including from the Bhumjaithai Party but said the government expects the bill to pass within the originally planned one-year window. He emphasised that the proposed development remains a cornerstone of Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin\u2019s economic strategy, with goals of attracting foreign investment, boosting tourism, and generating employment across multiple regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To try to build consensus<\/a>, the government has launched a campaign of stakeholder engagement, including briefings to parliamentary committees and community representatives. Julapun underscored the administration\u2019s focus on transparency and responsiveness, vowing to incorporate feedback and maintain open dialogue throughout the legislative process.<\/p>\n\n\n
