Most workers have now been informed of their rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- Macau\u2019s Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) says it has now briefed more than 4,812 workers employed at the city\u2019s satellite casinos about their rights and to assist with job transitions ahead of the planned closure by the end of the year<\/a>. That includes most of those employed by concessionaires. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, the body said it had contacted 3,878 employees, 70 per cent of those affected. In total, 5,600 local employees are expected to be affected, including 4,800 directly employed by gaming concessionaires. Some 400 non-resident workers will also be affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only two of the 11 satellite casinos, Ponte 16 and L\u2019Arc, are expected to continue operating after the end of the year as they are due to be bought and convered into self-promoted casinos by SJM Holdings. The satellite model is being phased out due to legal changes limiting third-party operators to management-fee-only arrangements under licensed concessionaires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to DSAL, between June 9 and June 20, 52 employee briefings were held. Of those attending, 4,457 are employed through the three gaming concessionaires, SJM Holdings, Galaxy Entertainment Group, and Sands China and 355 by satellite casino operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to briefings, DSAL and the three concessionaires have hosted seven job-matching events. The sessions have offered positions across a variety of departments, such as food and beverage, customer service, facilities management, and hygiene services.<\/p>\n\n\n
