The Senate Committee on Gaming has invited members of the public to submit written testimony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Northern Mariana Islands.- The Senate Committee on Gaming is inviting members of the public to submit written testimony on governor Arnold I. Palacios\u2019 order to dissolve the Commonwealth Casino Commission (CCC)<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The committee’s chair, Corina Magofna, issued notice of a meeting set for today (June 18) in the Senate chamber to deliberate on Executive Order 2025-002. The notice reads: “Members of the general public are encouraged to submit written testimony before the committee meeting,” adding that oral testimonies may be presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, the CCC requested the Legislature reject governor Arnold I. Palacios\u2019 order. In a letter to Senate president Dennis James C. Mendiola and speaker Edmund S. Villagomez, CCC chairman Edward C. Deleon Guerrero said the commission believes that the move would “delay the timely suitability review of the new casino operator, handicap the CNMI\u2019s ability to properly regulate the casino industry, further frustrate the CNMI\u2019s efforts to improve our economic recovery, and is ultimately not in the best interest of the Commonwealth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n
