The stability of employment for residents remains a top priority for the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- The Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) has contacted 3,878 employees offering legal consultations, employment referrals, and information on vocational training due to the upcoming closure of satellite casinos<\/a>. That’s 70 per cent of those affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to DSAL officers, as of June 16, the bureau had deployed 62 inspectors across 10 satellite casinos and three slot machine parlours, and has overseen 38 briefing sessions on employee rights organised by gaming operators. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At least nine of the city\u2019s 11 satellite casinos are to cease operations by December 31. Of the 5,600 local employees affected, 4,800 are directly employed by gaming concessionaires (Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, and SJM Holdings) and will retain employment as overseen by the government. The remaining 800 are employed directly by the satellite operators themselves. An additional 400 non-resident workers are also employed in these venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DSAL is conducting seven job-matching sessions with gaming concessionaires. In the first session with SJM Resorts, 84 out of 87 registered workers attended interviews for roles in customer service, food and beverage, and facility management at eight venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sands China also announced job interviews for workers<\/a> affected by the upcoming closure of satellite casinos. It\u2019s offering job opportunities within its Sands Rewards programme and has started hosting interview sessions at Sands Macao. Galaxy is also holding job-matching sessions this week.<\/p>\n\n\n
