South Korea.- Representatives of the tourism sector in South Korea have called on the government to combat citizens gambling overseas. During a policy forum jointly hosted by The Korea Times and the Tourism Sciences Society of Korea (TOSOK), they proposed the creation of a task force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Academics, government officials and industry leaders assessed the current approach to overseas gambling by Korean nationals and suggested a need for coordinated oversight and international cooperation. Lee Jae-seok, a professor of tourism at Gangneung-Wonju National University, made a keynote address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under current regulations, Korean nationals are permitted to gamble at a horse racing track in Seoul and Kangwon Land. Other casinos cater only to foreign visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Korea offers rewards for reporting illegal sports betting sites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sports Toto Korea has launched the Illegal Sports Toto Reporting Center to encourage people to report illegal sports gambling<\/a>. It will offer rewards to those who provide information. Reports can be made through the Illegal Sports Toto Reporting Center\u2019s website or by calling 1899-1119.
