The Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR)\u00a0has donated patient transport vehicles (PTVs) worth PHP16.2m (US$290,580) to eight local government units (LGUs) in Luzon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beneficiary LGUs are Rosario and Cuenca in Batangas; San Mateo in Isabela; Pola in Oriental Mindoro; and the municipalities of Dumaran, Brooke\u2019s Point, Magsaysay, and Coron in Palawan. Each vehicle is equipped with a GPS navigation system, ambulance stretcher, oxygen supply, wheelchair and first aid kit.<\/p>\n\n\n

PAGCOR chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco said the PTVs are designed to improve the ability of local health units to rapidly address medical emergencies, especially in regions with restricted access to hospitals and specialised medical services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March, the agency donated a PTV<\/a> to\u00a0the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA). The donation was part of a PHP300m (US$5.04m) pledge to the PNPA announced at the academy\u2019s 45th Alumni Homecoming at Camp Gen. Mariano Casta\u00f1eda in Silang, Cavite a week ago.<\/p>\n\n\n
