Cambodia.-\u00a0The\u00a0Commercial Gambling Management Commission (CGMC)\u00a0<\/strong>and the Kampot Provincial Administration have held a meeting to address illegal gambling in the province.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting, chaired by Khim Odom<\/strong>, deputy director of the Department of Legal Affairs and Licensing at CGMC, and Chan Tha<\/strong>, deputy governor of the Kampot Provincial Administration, was attended by approximately 100 people, including representatives from the municipal-district coordination committees.<\/p>\n\n\n

In his speech, Odom emphasised the importance of disseminating information about relevant laws and regulations governing commercial gambling to local authorities and stakeholders. He reported that, as of the end of May this year, there were 13 gambling companies and 31 gambling branches across the country, with only three branches in Kampot province. Chan Tha called for proactive measures against illegal gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last July, a prohibition on new casinos<\/a> in Kep and Kampot provinces entered force. Prime minister Hun Manet <\/strong>made the decision to encourage investment diversification in sectors such as hotels and hospitality, tourism, manufacturing, industry, agriculture, trade, and special economic zones.<\/p>\n\n\n
