Macau.- Melco Resorts & Entertainment has announced that Grand Dragon Casino and three Mocha clubs, namely Mocha Hotel Royal, Mocha Kuong Fat and Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel, will cease operations before the end of the year. The company said it took the decision after considering its overall development strategy and in accordance with Macau law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Melco said employees working at the venues will be assigned to its other properties in Macau within their current job duties. Gaming tables and electronic gaming machines from the affected venues will be moved to other casinos or gaming areas run by the company in Macau.<\/p>\n\n\n

The casino operator has said that it will request permission from the government to keep three Mocha clubs, Mocha Inner Harbour, Mocha Hotel Sintra and Mocha Golden Dragon, open beyond December 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Grand Dragon Casino is one of 11 satellite casinos that continue to operate in the city. According to Macau\u2019s revised gaming law<\/a>, the venues have until December 31, to transition to a management company arrangement, under which they won\u2019t share gaming revenue but will receive a management fee from the concessionaire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first quarter of the year, Melco<\/a> reported operating revenue of US$1.23bn for the first quarter of the year, a rise of 11 per cent year-on-year amid improved performance in both gaming and non-gaming operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group\u2019s adjusted property earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) was US$341m compared with US$298.8m in 2024. The net loss attributable to noncontrolling interests was US$4.8m, compared to US$14.6m, the majority relating Studio City and City of Dreams Mediterranean and Other.<\/p>\n\n\n
