Malaysia.- The Royal Malaysia Police <\/strong>have urged the public to report any incidents of artificial intelligence (AI) videos used to promote gambling. New Straits Times reported that inspector-general of police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain<\/strong> said influencers and static images are usually used but that police would also investigate if AI videos promote gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Razarudin said police have opened 28 investigations into gambling promotions by influencers in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor this year as part of the ongoing Op Dadu. Of these, 18 have gone to court and 10 are still under investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 2021 to 2024, police blocked access to 3,785 gambling-related websites<\/strong>. In 2024, police carried out 7,800 raids and arrested 9,460 people. Razarudin said rapid technological change and secure platforms made it more difficult to gather evidence for court, particularly because there is no specific legal definition of online gambling in Malaysian law and the Betting Act 1953 is outdated.<\/p>\n\n\n
