Other beneficiaries industry include veterinarians, owners, trainers the Ascot Park Consortium and 11 track staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ban was announced by racing minister <strong>Winston Peters in December<\/strong>. The plan is to phase out the sport within <strong>20 months<\/strong>, giving relevant parties time to rehome the racing dogs and find alternative livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eade claimed regulations have led to better welfare for greyhounds in the past eight years. She said: &#8220;They are well looked after, they are very regulated, and that&#8217;s the annoying part. The government doesn&#8217;t seem to be looking at the improvements that have been made.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eade added: \u201cGreyhounds are born and bred to race, and they&#8217;re kept in top health to do what they love. They&#8217;re such great dogs. They have a wonderful nature. They&#8217;re like your kids.
