The governor of the Bank of Thailand says the country must project an image of “integrity and transparency.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Thailand.- Dr. Sethaput Suthiwartnarueput<\/strong>, the governor of the Bank of Thailand (BOT) has warned that legalising casino resorts<\/a> could create a “grey” image of the country and pose economic risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at a recent press event, Suthiwartnarueput said Thailand should maintain a “correct” and “clean” image. He said that instead of legalising entertainment complexes, the country should focus on creating “added value” by exploring areas such as elderly care that appeal to a global market.<\/p>\n\n\n

According to Nation Thailand, Suthiwartnarueput acknowledged the country’s tourism infrastructure but emphasised the need for continuous improvement. He said Thailand must project an image of integrity and transparency, referring to Moody’s recent assessment of the country’s compliance and ethics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government delayed discussion of the casino bill\u00a0until the next parliamentary session, which starts on July 2 due to the issues of US tariffs and last month\u2019s earthquake. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
