Indonesia.- Indonesia’s Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) has announced that online gambling transactions <\/strong>amounted to Rp47tn in the first quarter of the year, down from Rp90tn (US$5.4bn) in the first quarter of 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a press conference at National Police Headquarters in Jakarta, PPATK chief Ivan Yustivandana<\/strong> said the number of online gambling transactions fell to 39m. He expects an annual tally of around 160m, compared to 209m in 2024. Yustivandana attributed the decline to cooperation with National Police and other groups.<\/p>\n\n\n

According to Jakarta Online, at the same event, National Police Criminal Investigation chief commissioner general Wahyu Widada<\/strong> expressed concern about online gambling spreading, including among students and police officers. He said that many offenders were young people who may gamble small amounts regularly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this week, Meutya Hafid<\/strong>, minister of communication and digital affairs (Komdigi), announced that his ministry took action against 1,192,000 website links and IP addresses and 127,000 pieces of gambling contents<\/a> on social media between October 20, 2024, and April 23, 2025. Meutya said the government had strengthened digital surveillance and law enforcement through collaboration with the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).<\/p>\n\n\n
