Citigroup says wagers totalled HK$27.2m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- Citigroup <\/strong>has reported that premium mass wagers<\/strong> during the\u00a0Macau’s Labour Day golden week\u00a0from May 1 to 5 reached HK$27.2m (US$3.5m). That\u2019s an 54 per cent increase year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The count of premium mass participants reached a new high at 949. That\u2019s a rise of 22 per cent in year-on-year terms. The average bet per player was up 26 per cent at HK$28,654 (US$3,698). The figure was up 9 per cent when compared to the Chinese New Year 2025 holiday period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Analysts George Choi<\/strong> and Timothy Chau<\/strong> noted a wager of HK$2.9m (US$374,200) at MGM Cotai’s Supreme Room, the highest individual bet they have observed to date. Another player at the Venetian’s High Limit area wagered HK$1.2m (US$154,800). <\/p>\n\n\n

The survey observed 49 whales (players with bets of HK$100,000 per hand or more), up 32.43 per cent year-on-year.\u00a0They wagered a total of HK$13.8m (US$1.78m) for an average of HK$281,000 (US$36,249) per whale, a rise of 79 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of market share among the city’s six operators, US-based casino operators accouned for approximately 63 per cent of premium mass wagers. MGM China led the market with an estimated 30 per cent share, followed by Galaxy at 22 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some 850,034 visitors arrived in Macau during the\u00a0Labour Day golden week<\/strong>. That’s an increase of 40.6 per cent in\u00a0year-on-year terms and surpasses the estimate of 635,000 to 700,000 forecast by Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) director\u00a0Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Average daily visitation was 170,000, up 40.8 per cent compared to last year. Daily arrivals peaked at 221,000 on Friday (May 2), the second day of the holiday period.<\/p>\n\n\n
