(POSC) <\/strong>has decided to reconsider plans to invest further in the online gaming market due to fears of a ban on <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/senator-says-review-of-philippine-inland-online-gaming-should-use-same-criteria-as-for-pogos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Philippine Inland Gaming Operators (PIGOs)<\/a>. <strong>Willy N. Ocier<\/strong>, chairman of POSC, told reporters the company was &#8220;re-thinking&#8221; its involvement in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In January, the company entered a <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/posc-acquires-37-5-stake-in-hhrpi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deal<\/a> to buy 37.5 per cent of\u00a0<strong>HHR Philippines<\/strong>, which is licensed by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) as both a provider of electronic gaming platforms for land-based and online gaming operators licensed and an online gaming provider under the brand Buenas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In March, <strong>Claire Castro<\/strong>, undersecretary of the presidential communications office, said president<strong> Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.\u00a0<\/strong>could impose<strong>\u00a0a ban on\u00a0PIGOs<\/strong> if they are found to be causing issues similar to those that led to the shutdown of offshore gaming operators.
