The number of available guest rooms remained flat at 44,000 while the average length of stay remained at 1.6 nights. The&nbsp;<strong>number of guests at hotels&nbsp;<\/strong>dropped by 2.7 per cent year-on-year to 1,203,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Inbound package tour visitors\u00a0<\/strong>totalled 244,000, a 5.6 per cent yearly increase, with those from mainland China growing by 2.4 per cent to 214,000. International tour visitors increased by 21.5 per cent to 24,000, with those coming from the Republic of Korea (11,000) up by 41.9 per cent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some 435,000 Macau citizens contracted travel agencies for outbound services, a decrease of 0.8 per cent compared to last year. Those travelling under their own arrangements were down by 6.1 per cent to 31,000, while those travelling on package tours increased by 13.7 per cent to 14,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first quarter of the year, the average hotel occupancy rate rose by 5.2 percentage points <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-hotel-occupancy-rate-reaches-84-4-in-q1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">year-on-year<\/a> to 90.1 per cent. The number of guests decreased by 5.4 per cent year-on-year to 3,574,000. At the end of the first quarter, there were 147 hotels in Macau, an increase of 6 compared to last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The occupancy rate for<strong> 5-star hotels&nbsp;<\/strong>was 93.2 per cent, up 6.1 percentage points, compared to<strong> 4-star hotels&nbsp;<\/strong>84.5 per cent, up 3.4 percentage points and&nbsp;<strong>3-star hotels&nbsp;<\/strong>86.6 per cent, up 5.5 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The average length of stay remained at 1.7 nights. A total of 550,000 inbound package tour visitors were recorded, an increase of 9.1 per cent year-on-year. Tour visitors from mainland China rose by 6.3 per cent year-on-year to 477,000. International tour visitors increased by 19.8 per cent to 60,000, with those coming from the Republic of Korea (33,000) growing by 43.5 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guests from mainland China numbered 2,721,000, a decrease of 3.4 per cent. International guests increased to 292,000, up 8.1 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Macau visitor numbers rise in March<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>DSEC\u00a0<\/strong>has reported that 3,068,920 people visited Macau in March. The figure was up 12.8 per cent in year-on-year terms and down 2.49 per cent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-visitor-numbers-dip-in-february\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sequentially<\/a>. Same-day visitors (1,780,279) rose by 23.3 per cent year-on-year, and overnight visitors (1,288,641) increased by 0.9 per cent. The average length of stay shortened by 0.1 of a day year-on-year to 1.1 days. The duration for same-day visitors remained at 0.2 days and that for overnight visitors 2.3 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first quarter of the year, 9,862,665 people visited Macau. That\u2019s an increase of 11.1 per cent in year-on-year terms. Same-day visitors (5,823,384) rose by 21.5 per cent year-on-year, and overnight visitors (4,039,281) dropped by 1.1 per cent.
