Thailand.- Six people\u00a0have been arrested in Thailand for alleged links to an illegal online gambling website, Fun586, which reportedly laundered over THB3.2bn (US$95.95m).\u00a0Police said that those arrested set up a fake agricultural trading company to hide online gambling operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigators found that bets were sent from gamblers to a mule account, then to the company, and finally to three website operators: two Chinese nationals and one Indonesian, who now face international arrest warrants. Over 25 other people, including five Malaysians and one Cambodian are suspected of being involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, a special Senate committee has reportedly been tasked to review the bill to legalise casino resorts<\/a> in Thailand. According to the Bangkok Post, the first meeting will take place tomorrow (April 23).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The panel initially comprised 35 members following a proposal from senator\u00a0Sorachat Wichaya Suwanphrom. It has been reduced to 34 members due to senator\u00a0Premsak Piayura\u2018s resignation. The meeting will focus on appointing a chairperson, outlining the framework for the study and nominating a replacement for Piayura. The committee has 180 days to complete its work.<\/p>\n\n\n
