The announcement was made as part of the HKJC’s 140th anniversary celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Hong Kong.- As part of the celebrations for its 140th anniversary, the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) <\/strong>pledged HK$1.4bn (US$179.2m) through its Charities Trust<\/strong> to support five youth development initiatives. The announcement was made yesterday (April 13) during the Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Day held at Sha Tin Racecourse, which was attended by over 200 representatives from various charity and community groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiatives include the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau (HYAB) JC Scheme for Youth Life Planning developed alongside the Youth Development Commission (YDC) and a new interactive space at Youth Square<\/strong>, which will host activities including a video production studio intended to showcase positive stories of Hong Kong youth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other recipients include the JC Campsite Reimagination Project<\/strong> focusing on redeveloping recreational campsites built between the 1960s and 1980s, a project that aims to enhance the life mobility potential of young people through a multi-stage intervention model and the JC Echoes of Love Fund<\/strong>, which provides long-term support for bereaved minors impacted by the loss of a parent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HKJC chairman Michael Lee<\/a> <\/strong>said: “Young people are vital to our society\u2019s sustainable and prosperous development. This is why Youth Development and Poverty Alleviation is one of the priority areas of the Club’s charities strategy. With this in mind, the club has initiated and supported a wide range of programmes designed to help young people become active citizens and make a difference in society. The youth initiatives announced aim to provide young people with enhanced support, diverse experiences and development opportunities that will equip them for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The club hopes through these measures to nurture a new generation of multi-talented young people, who will not only feel hope for the future but be ready to contribute to society’s development. The club looks forward to strengthening multilateral collaboration as it works with its partners to launch more innovative initiatives to address the changing needs of our society.”<\/p>\n\n\n
