{"id":777024874,"date":"2025-04-04T09:51:49","date_gmt":"2025-04-04T12:51:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=777024874"},"modified":"2026-04-22T00:08:41","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T03:08:41","slug":"new-queensland-greyhound-racing-track-opens-with-a-12-race-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/new-queensland-greyhound-racing-track-opens-with-a-12-race-program","title":{"rendered":"New Queensland greyhound racing track opens with a 12-race program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Q&#8217;s official opening event will be held on June 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Australia.- The Q, <strong>a new racetrack&nbsp;<\/strong>in Queensland, has opened its doors today (April 4) with a 12-race program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Situated south of Ipswich, the world-class precinct features three tracks &#8211; a straight track, a one-turn track and a two-turn track \u2013 with animal welfare at the core of its design and construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The maiden meeting took place on the one-turn track \u2013 known as Ladbrokes Q1 Lakeside \u2013 on the back of more than 1,000 trials and two picnic meetings in recent weeks to ensure dogs are accustomed to the new track.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trialling on the Ladbrokes Q Straight and Q2 Parklands tracks will commence in the coming weeks, whilst the facility will be open to the public in May. The official opening event will be held on June 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister for Racing&nbsp;<strong>Tim Mander <\/strong>said: &#8220;Queensland greyhound racing participants can now proudly say they have a permanent home for their sport.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Crisafulli Government is committed to strengthening the long-term viability and integrity of all racing codes, while delivering modern and fit-for-purpose racing infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Constructed with animal welfare at its core, The Q will be the envy of greyhound racing jurisdictions across Australia and the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Participants visit The Q\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9WyruLWQiJU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>RQ acting CEO <strong>Lachlan Murray<\/strong> said: &#8220;Friday&#8217;s inaugural meeting was another milestone for the state-of-the-art precinct, as we build towards the Queensland Winter Greyhound Racing Carnival next month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Not only will The Q deliver the nation\u2019s premier racing facility, it will also be an invaluable multi-use asset that the whole community can enjoy.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Queensland Winter Greyhound Racing Carnival will feature seven main race meetings and nearly AU$3m in prize money.
