The village was constructed with a HK$154m (US$19.79m) grant from the HKJC Charities Trust awarded in 2020. It aims to attract global talent to Hong Kong, adding diversity to the student community and promoting the city&#8217;s development as an international education hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The village&#8217;s inauguration was led by HKJC steward <strong>Lester Huang<\/strong>; professor <strong>Xiang Zhang<\/strong>, president and vice-chancellor of the University of Hong Kong; and <strong>Dr. Peter Wong<\/strong>, chairman of the Council of the University of Hong Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Huang said: &#8220;This is the fourth residential complex to be part funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust for the University of Hong Kong. It features a smart housing system with electronic door locks, room booking, and laundry status monitoring. It also provides shared facilities such as a dining hall, study rooms, relaxation areas and other amenities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This village is one of Hong Kong&#8217;s first projects to use modular integrated construction, which helps cut costs, boosts efficiency, and reduces waste and carbon emissions.
