Macau.- The Macau Jockey Club (MJC) <\/strong>has relocated 177 horses to Zhuhai in mainland China. The horses were shipped in five groups, with the last group of 41 recently completing their move. The horses underwent infrared temperature checks and clinical exams and were taken to the Yintan Quarantine Facility in Doumen District for a 30-day quarantine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MJC ended its operations on April 1, 2024<\/a> after more than 40 years\u00a0in operation and was ordered to move all horses by the end of March 2025. The government had terminated the concession contract<\/a> in January 2024 noting that the club had been facing financial difficulties for years. The MJC has until April 2025 to return all facilities to the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau GGR reaches US$1.82bn in first 23 days of March, Citigroup says<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Analysts at Citigroup<\/strong> have estimated that Macau\u2019s gross gaming revenue (GGR)<\/strong> for the first 23 days of March was MOP14.6bn (US$1.82bn). The estimated GGR run rate was MOP635m per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Analysts George Choi <\/strong>and Timothy Chau<\/strong> said GGR is flat in year-on-year terms. The daily run rate for the week of March 17-23 was MOP643m (US$80.1m), a rise of 3 per cent compared to the previous week<\/a> (MOP621m). Analysts said VIP volume fell by 8 to 10 per cent month-on-month and mass GGR by 7 to 9 per cent. They said the VIP hold rate appeared to be higher than the previous week\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n
