The Philippines.-\u00a0<\/strong>The\u00a0Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR)<\/strong>\u00a0has inaugurated a new civic centre in Barangay, San Isidro. The two-storey structure was constructed with a PHP50m (US$872.500) grant from PAGCOR and is expected to benefit more than 2,000 residents<\/strong>. It can also serve 22 neighbouring districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The building will function as a community hub and an evacuation centre during emergencies. It features common restrooms on both floors, a multipurpose open area, dining halls, a kitchen, a first-aid room, storage spaces and a breastfeeding room.<\/p>\n\n\n

Luisiana mayor Jomapher Uy Alvarez<\/strong> said: “We are sincerely grateful for the timely completion of this socio-civic centre, which will be highly beneficial to our town. Our municipal hall has aged significantly, and with its planned reconstruction in 2025, this socio-civic facility will serve as a crucial extension for local government operations.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sangguniang Barangay member Joseph Pedron<\/strong> added: “This PAGCOR-funded socio-civic centre will be a tremendous help to us. It can accommodate evacuees in times of calamities, and given its well-built infrastructure, it can also generate income for our barangay and municipality.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To date, PAGCOR<\/a> has completed and inaugurated a total of 49 socio-civic centres in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n
