The Australian regulator has blocked the sites for breaches of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Australia.-\u00a0The\u00a0Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA)\u00a0has issued a request for Australian internet service providers (ISPs) to\u00a0block two more gambling websites for violations of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.\u00a0The sites are\u00a0Crown slots and Billy billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ACMA blocks sites that offer\u00a0unlicensed interactive gambling services\u00a0or publish advertisements for prohibited services. Since its first request in November 2019, it has\u00a0blocked 1,178 sites. The regulator says over 220 illegal services have been withdrawn from the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It reminded consumers that even if a service looks legitimate, it\u2019s unlikely to have customer protections. People can check if a wagering service is licensed to operate in Australia on ACMA\u2019s register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACMA warns Foxtel for breaching gambling ad rules<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, ACMA issued a warning to Foxtel cable television over a virtual banner promoting a gambling operator. It said the banner during an AFL match between Port Adelaide and Essendon in April 2024 was broadcast without an adequate responsible gambling message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the subscription television code of practice, gambling advertisements shown during broadcasts of live sports must be accompanied by a responsible gambling message. Foxtel says it acted quickly to add a message and would train its staff on regulatory requirements. It said it would provide a report to the regulator on steps taken to ensure gambling ads contain sufficient responsible gambling messages.<\/p>\n\n\n
