The results have surpassed the Macau government&#8217;s expectations. Authorities have forecast <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-affirms-gaming-revenue-target-for-2024\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GGR could hit MOP216bn (US$27.07bn) in 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2024 is the second year of Macau\u2019s recovery from Covid-19, following the end of all travel restrictions in early 2023. According to authorities, nearly 35 million people visited the city last year, surpassing <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/mgto-still-thinks-macau-tourism-numbers-will-exceed-2024-target\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the government&#8217;s target<\/a> of 34 million tourist arrivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>December\u2019s GGR was down 1.3 per cent <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-casino-ggr-reaches-us2-31bn-in-november\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sequentially<\/a> from MOP18.44bn (US$2.31bn) to MOP18.2bn (US$2.28bn). Compared to the same month in 2023, the figure was down by 2 per cent.
