Among those arrested were seven foreigners. Police seized 31 mobile phones, 20 tablets, nine modems, and RM2,378 in cash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kuala Lumpur police chief, <strong>Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa<\/strong> told Harian Metro that raids took place at snooker halls, some of which hid gambling operations on the upper floors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elsewhere in Malaysia, police in Perak say they conducted\u00a0<strong>1,369 raids related to illegal gambling\u00a0<\/strong>between January and September. These led to\u00a0<strong>1,652\u00a0<\/strong>arrests, while police seized RM$1,296 in cash and 1,022 electronic devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The raids targeted various\u00a0<strong>illegal gambling activities<\/strong>, including online, indoors and outdoors. Police submitted 91 requests to local authorities for the cancellation of business permits. So far, 14 licences have been revoked, while 77 are awaiting responses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police made\u00a0<strong>81 applications to cut electricity supply<\/strong>\u00a0to identified venues under the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953. Tenaga Nasional Berhad has completed 67. Finally,\u00a0<strong>46 applications<\/strong>\u00a0were submitted to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to block gambling-related websites.
