In October, Chinese premier<strong>\u00a0Li Qiang\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/china-and-cambodia-strengthen-cooperation-against-online-gambling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">held discussions<\/a> with Cambodian prime minister\u00a0<strong>Hun Manet<\/strong>\u00a0to discuss collaborative efforts against cross-border crimes, including online gambling and cyber scams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Public Security has described such offences as<strong> a significant danger to public welfare and economic stability<\/strong> and pledged to enhance international law enforcement collaboration. The ministry also advised Chinese citizens to avoid engaging in online or foreign gambling and to stay alert in the face of evolving telecom fraud schemes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cambodia banned online gambling when an agreement with China was signed in March 2019.&nbsp;In June, the country discussed collaboration on tackling online gambling and online fraud&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/indonesia-and-cambodia-meet-to-discuss-online-gambling\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">with Indonesia<\/a>. China has also pledged collaboration with&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/__trashed-7\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">China\u2019s navy warns young officers over online gambling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this month, the People\u2019s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy issued a warning to young officers and its personnel about the risks of online scams. The navy also advised against online gambling, which is illegal in China. It warned that gambling harm could lead to financial trouble, making officers vulnerable to coercion or exploitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a social media post, the PLA said that those born in the 1990s, who are \u201cbecoming the core of the army,\u201d should avoid disclosing their military affiliation online due to the sensitive nature of their work.
