Executive secretary Lucas Bersamin, who also serves as the chairperson of PAOCC, has directed the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to expedite the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The foreign workers were among over 400 people arrested in the raid, which was coordinated by the <strong>PAOCC <\/strong>along with<strong>\u00a0the Philippine National Police (PNP)<\/strong>\u00a0and armed forces. Officials reportedly received information that the Central One complex within the compound was housing an unlicensed offshore gaming operation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PAOCC executive director undersecretary\u00a0<strong>Gilbert Cruz\u00a0<\/strong>told dzBB that around 900 people were employed at the hub. Among them were nationals from China, Vietnam, and Malaysia and 600 Filipinos.\u00a0The Malolos Regional Trial Court Branch 81 granted a search warrant after determining that there was probable cause indicating violations of Republic Act 9208.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PAOCC spokesperson<strong>&nbsp;Winston Casio<\/strong>&nbsp;said the firm operated under a permit from the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan but had no online gambling permit from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Philippine president says no new law needed following offshore gaming ban<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>President&nbsp;<strong>Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.&nbsp;<\/strong>has said that he sees no&nbsp;<strong>need for new legislation&nbsp;<\/strong>to prohibit offshore gaming operators and internet gaming following&nbsp;<strong>Executive Order (EO) 74<\/strong>, which he&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/president-marcos-issues-executive-order-banning-offshore-gambling-operators-in-the-philippines\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">issued last Friday (November 8)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking with reporters at an event in Para\u00f1aque City, Marcos said the executive order was \u201csufficient\u201d. Referring to claims of&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/philippine-senator-raises-concerns-over-loopholes-in-ban-on-offshore-gaming-operators\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">potential loopholes<\/a>&nbsp;in the order, he noted that casinos and integrated resorts run by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) are not allowed to offer offshore gaming and would not be able to do so after the ban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere is just no way because it\u2019s the nature of the operation that we are banning,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s not because it\u2019s under PAGCOR or not. So long as it\u2019s an offshore gaming operator or has the similar licence, it\u2019s banned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Risa Hontiveros had argued that the order does not explicitly ban offshore gaming operator activities in areas outside the oversight of the PAGCOR.
