The ministry also submitted at least&nbsp;<strong>21,000 keywords<\/strong> related to online gambling to Google and <strong>5,793<\/strong> to Meta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In September, Arie said that he had asked the Bank Indonesia (BI) to\u00a0<strong>block 573 digital wallets linked to online gambling<\/strong>. He also asked the\u00a0<strong>Financial Services Authority\u00a0<\/strong>to block\u00a0<strong>7,599 bank accounts\u00a0<\/strong>with similar links.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ministry is also collaborating with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) to&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/indonesia-tightens-controls-to-curb-online-gambling-transactions\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stop the use of payment and banking systems<\/a>&nbsp;for online gambling. In addition, Arie also mentioned plans to&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/indonesia-to-restrict-free-vpns-to-curb-online-gambling-access\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">restrict access to free virtual private networks (VPNs)<\/a> to prevent access to online gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, <strong>Abdullah Azwar Anas<\/strong>, the Indonesian state minister for Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reforms, has issued a circular on the prevention and handling of online gambling in government Institutions.\u00a0<strong>Circular number 5\/2024\u00a0<\/strong>warns of strict disciplinary measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anas said state employees involved in online gambling activities could face penalties ranging from warnings to suspension or dismissal, depending on the severity of the offence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anas urged government institutions to<strong>&nbsp;launch campaigns and initiatives to support the prevention of gambling<\/strong>. Central and regional governments are expected to conduct educational activities for state employees and non-state employees regarding the negative impacts of online gambling. Heads of government institutions will have to conduct periodic monitoring and evaluations of efforts to prevent online gambling.
