The levy was <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/gst-council-to-tax-online-gaming-casinos-and-horse-racing-at-28\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">implemented last October<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nirmala Sitharaman, finance minister\u00a0of the <strong>South Asian country<\/strong>, said online gambling revenue saw a rise of 412 per cent between November 2023 and April 2024 to \u20b96,909 Crore (US$823m). Revenue from land-based casinos increased by 30 per cent, reaching \u20b91,214 Crore (US$25.5m).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Various online gaming companies had previously expressed concerns over the potential ramifications of the tax, arguing that it could impact the overall viability of gaming businesses.
