In a television interview, he said the <strong>Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)<\/strong> is preparing measures to support affected workers should the government decide to go ahead with a ban. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Laguesma said there are around 50 legitimate offshore gaming operators in the Philippines employing over 22,000 Filipinos. Additionally, around 8,000 foreign nationals, primarily from Vietnam, are legally working in the online gaming sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several Philippine lawmakers are&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/another-lawmaker-joins-call-for-ban-on-offshore-gaming-companies-in-the-philipines\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">calling for a ban on offshore gaming companies<\/a>. A security expert has described&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/pagcor-denies-presence-of-chinese-gaming-operators-near-military-camps\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">operators as \u201cTrojan horses\u201d<\/a> that could be used by China to stage \u201csurprise attacks\u201d against military installations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Chinese Embassy in Manila<\/strong> has also called on the Philippines to&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/china-urges-the-philippines-to-ban-offshore-gaming-operators\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prohibit offshore gaming operators<\/a>. These include Bloomberry Resorts and Hotels, Travellers International Hotel Group, Stotsenberg Leisure Park and Hotel, Thunderbird Pilipinas Hotels &amp; Resorts, and Eastbay Resorts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other online gaming operators approved are Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment, MJC Investments Corp, Hann Philippines, and BB International Leisure and Resort Development. Bingo Plus, run by AB Leisure Exponent and owned by&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/digiplus-posts-net-income-of-us35m-for-q1\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Digiplus<\/a>, is the only operator approved for online casino that does not run a land-based casino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, PAGCOR\u2019s Electronic Gaming Licensing Department has licenced 34 service providers for eCasino games, sports betting, eBingo, and speciality games. These operators, including Jade Entertainment and Gaming Technologies, PhilWeb Corp, and TGXI, are required to have a physical presence in the country.
